If you are receiving a message to upgrade your subscription when trying to access AJC.com or the ePaper, and you are already signed in with your paying subscriber account, it is possible the page is being blocked on your computer by an expired certificate due to incorrect clock settings.
Most websites today use HTTPS, which relies on SSL/TLS certificates. These certificates have a validity period (a start and expiration date). If your system clock is off, your computer might think a certificate is not yet valid or has already expired. As a result, the browser will mistakenly block access to protect you from potential security risks.
